Radiation Protection Advice and Radiation Safety Training Services

Radiation Protection Adviser Services - Radiography
Radioactive Waste Adviser Services - Radioactive Waste

The services we offer can be selected from the menu opposite; the site search service at the top of the page may also be useful.

Most users of ionising radiation in the UK will require Radiation Protection Adviser (RPA) services for compliance with the Ionising Radiations regulations 1999 (IRR99).  Ionactive Consulting is able to offer a complete service to meet specific client needs.

We also offer a Radioactive Waste Adviser (RWA) service which is a requirement for those using radioactive materials which lead to the accumulation and disposal of radioactive waste. The RWA will provide advice for compliance with the Environmental Permitting (England & Wales) Regulations 2010 (EPR2010), or with the Radioactive Substances Act 1993 (RSA93) in Scotland.

The RWA will also provide advice on the new (2011) out-of-scope / exemption criteria that apply throughout the UK (for using radioactive material and accumulating and disposing of radioactive waste).

Outside the UK we work with a number of international clients. In this context we act as a Qualified Expert (QE) which combines the Radiation Protection Adviser and Radioactive Waste Adviser roles.

We have the most diverse range of clients in the UK ranging from 'small users' of ionising radiation (e.g. category 5 radioactive sources or fully enclosed x-ray generators) through to some of the largest users (nuclear research reactor / HASS radioactive sources in the PBq range and high power accelerators).

We advise clients on the routine uses of ionising radiation as well as assist in the development and testing of new facilities.
